Nikki had a splendid idea this year--since the whole fam would be in town--to spice up the gathering by packing up the cornacopia of festivities and moving it up and into the mountains; a cabin east of Kamas to be more exact.

What better way to celebrate Annabelle's first Thanksgiving than initiating a new tradition that hopefully spans her whole life. This trip was a lot of firsts for Annabelle, including her first ride in the 4-Runner. Little did she know that we have had this vehicle her whole life, but have just kept it out of site by strategically never putting the car seat in it. Well, now she knows.

Another first for her was a little more subtle but no less spectacular--clean pollution free air. We really haven't had the heart to tell her without actual proof that the brown smoggy inversion atmosphere of the Salt Lake Valley or the green haze eminating around Utah Lake (which is still being produced by the remnants of Geneva Steel and vandalizes a bit closer to home) aren't the best we have to offer her.

Annabelle was surrounded by all her closest relatives from the Bos side of the family. She got to spend some quality time with her cousins Olivia and Maddie as well as some cuddle time with Grandpa, Grandma, Nikki, Eric, Kristi, Aaron, Scottie and Jen.

Grandpa had thoughts of actually shooting, cleaning and cooking our own turkey this year...but that thought was not long lived, since no one really wanted to clean it and everyone expressed reserve of breaking a tooth on a pellet filled turkey breast.

The whole family spent all day and all night together in the cabin playing Xbox, cards, ping pong or the all might 'Risk'--which we now have to mend some family ties because allgiances were broken and under the table treaties were enacted. The TV ran almost non-stop with movies for the young and young at heart like, Surfs up, Monster's Inc and Christmas Vacation. And all the while there rested the earlier mentioned cornacopia of food all about. Apple beer aplenty; candy and snacks galore; pie, pie and more pie; turkey and potatoes to wash down the rest. Oh.......and all the Thanksgiving Soy formula Annabelle could handle!

At the end of the trip everyone wished for just one more day. Being together, and not just briefly getting together, but coming together to spend real time with eachother made this Thanksgiving one of the best any of us could remember. The other day I read a quote by a renowned scientist who said, "My family means everything. I could live without everything else, but not without my family." We concur.
